My 2012 Kenya Experience Through Pictures

It was such a Blessing to see Felix' beautiful mom Naomi. When I first saw her walk through the gates I noticed that she was PREGNANT! If you didn't know last year when I was in Kenya, I found out the tragic news that Felix's baby sister Faith had passed away. This past year I have been praying that she was able to have another baby. Well...after talking to her....I found out that she was 9 months pregnant, and she was due the week we were there!! Before leaving I never found out if she had the baby or not, but I have been praying that she is safe and has healthy baby. I am hoping to find out sometime this year what she had.
FELIX IS GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER AGAIN.....AND HE IS SOOOOO EXCITED!

This year I bought Felix new uniform socks and shoes! This was such an exciting moment for him. He didn't know I was going to do this, so when I called him to come over and sit down he had a HUGE SMILE. As I opened the box with new shiny shoes & his new socks, his EYES LIT UP!! The best part of all was being able to take his old socks (as you can tell in the picture below his toes were hanging out) and shoes.....and help put on my little boys new socks and shoes! This was such an overwhelming experience and I was able to share and cherish it with my boy! How something so little means so much to a 7 year old!

BAPTISMS!!!! Where do I start....to try and explain how overwhelmed my heart was during this whole experience. Baptisms is HUGE out in Kenya. So huge that when you get baptized, you will get a certificate from the Government stating that you have been baptized. In the Kiamaiko community, where our school is and where we baptized 12 people, unfortunately the community is mostly Muslims....BUT THAT DID NOT STOP US!!  When a Muslim sees someone gets baptized they know they are a Born again Christian. During baptisms, the community on the other side of the school gate did not like what we were doing. They were yelling and throwing things over the gate....
DID THAT STOP US??? NO!! Not only did we make that gate shake....but we made the GATES OF HELL SHAKE!!

After I baptized the first lady, I had found out that the majority of the people in Kenya NEVER have been fully summered under water. Thinking of the way they live out in a 3rd world county, that made complete sense. Well since this was there first time that where whole body was under water....can you imagine what there expressions were on there faces???? (you can see through the pictures a glimpse of it....minus the yelling and screaming as they came up)
THIS MADE & TOOK BAPTISMS TO A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL!!
